Technical features

FIPROCOAT 9080 is a chromium-free pre-paint treatment product used to produce on iron, aluminum and galvanized a conversion having excellent anchoring properties for paint and providing good corrosion protection.

Usage and Applications

FIPROCOAT 9080 can be applied both by spray and by immersion, in aqueous solution, according to these parameters:


  • Concentration of use 10 - 40 g / l

  • Spray contact time 60 "- 180"

  • Contact time immersion 120 "- 300"

  • Operating temperature 20 - 40 ° C


Operating conditions may vary depending on the result and the pre-treatment system.
The Fiprokim technical service will provide, from time to time, the optimal operating parameters.
It is recommended to use a rinse in demineralized water before treatment with FIPROCOAT 9080.
We also recommend keeping the conductivity of this rinse below 60 µS / cm.

Operating procedure

Before carrying out the conversion, it is necessary to eliminate any pollutant from the surface of the pieces to be treated, using alkaline degreasing baths, followed by more accurate rinses.
Prepare the bath using demineralized water and add 10 to 40 kg of FIPROCOAT 9080 for every 1000 liters of bath. Bring to working temperature and homogenize at least 15 minutes before treating the pieces.
Then add ALCAFIP 1051 until the pH of the working bath stabilizes for values ​​between 4.3 and 4.8.
After treatment with FIPROCOAT 9080, it is necessary to rinse the pieces with clean water, preferably demineralized (overflow is appreciated) and final step with deionized or demineralized water.
The product can work in combination with FIPROPLUS 915 which can, alternatively, also be used as a subsequent rinse to optimize the adhesion of the paint.
Drying with a temperature between 50 and 90 ° C follows.

Control of bathing

To check the working bath score, proceed as follows:


  • Take 100 ml of the bath and transfer it to an Erlenmeyer flask

  • Add 6 ÷ 7 drops of phenolphthalein indicator

  • Titrate with sodium hydrate (NaOH) 0.1N, the milliliters of NaOH 0.1 N consumed indicate the concentration of the working bath.


A bath prepared with 30 g / l of FIPROCOAT 9080 has a score, without pH adjustment, of 33 ml.
Adjusting the pH with ALCAFIP 1051 to the value of 4.65 gives a score equal to 21.5 ml.
For greater management accuracy of the bath, it is also advisable to periodically determine the zirconium points by means of a complexometric titration of the solution under examination.

Plant engineering and storage measures

All parts in contact with FIPROCOAT 9080 must be made of material resistant to fluorides and acidity.


  • AISI 316L stainless steel

  • Ebonizing

  • Coating in PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyfluorated plastics.


The products must be stored at a temperature between 5-40 ° C.
