FIPROPHOS 540 is a liquid formulation based on alkaline phosphates used to degrease and simultaneously phosphate iron and steel surfaces before their painting. The coating obtained consists of iron oxides and phosphates and its weight is generally between 0.2 and 0.4 g / m².
FIPROPHOS 540 can also be used to degrease parts of aluminum, zinc and their alloys.
Usage and Applications
FIPROPHOS 540 should be used in aqueous solution, by spray, with the following operating parameters:
Treatment time: 1 ÷ 3 minutes
Usage temperature: 40 ÷ 60 ° C
Concentration: 10 ÷ 20 g / l
Bath score: 7.2 ÷ 14.4 points of total acidity
pH of the bath at 20 ° C: 4.5 ÷ 5.5
Preparation of the solutions
For every 1000 liters of solution use 10 to 20 kg of FIPROPHOS 540.
Fill the tank with water and bring it to working temperature; then add the pre-set amount of FIPROPHOS 540 with the pumps running and circulate the solution for at least 10 minutes before the first material to be treated enters.
Control of bathing
Take 20 ml of sample, add 4-5 drops of phenolphthalein indicator and titrate with a 0.1 N sodium hydrate solution until a constant pink color.
The number of ml of 0.1 N sodium hydrate used represents the bath score which, for a 10 g / l preparation, must be equal to about 7.2.

All parts in contact with FIPROPHOS 540 can be built with AISI 316 L steel, avoid yellow alloys in pumps and valves.
