Usage and Applications
METALFIP 318 must be used in immersion tanks, diluted in water at variable percentages depending on the operating temperature.
Immerse the pieces in the solution thus prepared at temperatures between room temperature and 40 ° C. During the cold season, the solution can be conveniently heated, with rubber coils and steam passage, or Teflon-coated resistances, so as not to excessively lengthen the pickling times.
The immersion time can vary from a few minutes to over 1 or 2 hours, depending on the type of iron, its thickness, the type of oxide and the temperature.
In order to avoid alterations in the bath, the duration of which would be compromised, the pieces must be previously degreased.
Unlike stainless steel pickling baths, iron pickling baths are difficult to refill and it is recommended to replace the bath once it has run out.
In any case, the duration of the pickling baths for iron hardly exceeds a few months.

Control of solutions
Take 10 ml of bath
Add 7/8 drops of METHYLARANCO indicator
Titrate with 1 N NaOH until the solution changes from RED to YELLOW
The number of ml of NaOH 1 N consumed by the titration multiplied by “10” gives the concentration in g / l of the bath.
For example, a bath prepared at 12% (120 g / l) has a score of approximately 12.
For each missing point and for every 1000 liters of bath add 10 kg of METALFIP 318.
