Technical characteristics
METALFIP 336 is a liquid product, free of cyanides and chromates, designed for the uniform blackening of brass, copper, and carbon steel components. On these materials, it allows a wide range of colors to be obtained depending on the processing times and concentrations used.
The combination of substances used makes it possible to obtain a blackening layer with high mechanical properties and a long service life, even for the solutions.

Use and Applications
The product should be used in solution, at minimum concentrations of 2% up to undiluted, by immersion, from room temperature up to a maximum of 35 °C.
The contact time depends on the thickness of the workpieces to be treated, the operating temperature, the desired finish, and the surface finish of the workpieces, and varies from a few seconds to a few minutes. The final coloring obtained is a function of the concentration and treatment time: a longer treatment time provides darker color shades, while shorter treatments provide lighter colors.
The best results are obtained if, prior to the burnishing treatment, the surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and degreased, if necessary. This also ensures a longer bath life, as it prevents impurities and contaminants from weakening the burnishing bath.
The bath must be checked and replenished periodically.
The colored layers are delicate if still wet: before handling the treated parts, proceed with drying.

Precautions
The tanks containing the bath must be lined with suitable plastic material, for example PVC, polypropylene.
METALFIP 336 is acidic. Therefore, precautions for using an acidic product are recommended.
Avoid impacts and improper handling that may cause product spillage. Protect from frost, store away from heat sources, keep containers tightly closed.
