FIPRO DEFOAM 173 has been designed to solve the problem of suppressing certain particularly tenacious and persistent types of foam.
It is generally used in the presence of frothy-type foams, i.e., devoid of air, which rarely disappear without a strong surface tension-breaking action.
FIPRO DEFOAM 173 is, in fact, able to break up the most persistent masses of foam in a homogeneous and continuous manner, thanks to the formation of a thin but solid foam-breaking film over the surface of the treated liquid.
FIPRO DEFOAM 173 is also used in the presence of aqueous solutions with a highly acidic or highly alkaline pH where normal silicone antifoams lose their effectiveness.
Use and Applications
FIPRO DEFOAM 173 is self-emulsifying in water; to achieve complete dispersion of the product, it should be subjected to constant mixing with the liquid to be treated, or pre-additived with suitable surfactants to promote its dispersion in aqueous systems.
Given the specific conditions of use of the product, it is advisable to carry out preliminary tests to determine the exact dosage.
Generally, 1 to 3 parts of product are used per 1,000 parts of liquid to be treated.
