Technical specifications
FIPROPHOS 540 is a liquid formulation based on alkaline phosphates used to degrease and simultaneously phosphate iron and steel surfaces prior to painting. The coating obtained consists of iron oxides and phosphates and its weight is generally between 0.2 and 0,4 g/m².
FIPROPHOS 540 can also be used to degrease aluminum, zinc and their alloy parts.
Use and Applications
FIPROPHOS 540 must be used in an aqueous solution, by spray, with the following operating parameters:
Treatment time: 1 ÷ 3 minutes
Operating temperature: 40 ÷ 60°C
Concentration: 10 ÷ 20 g/l
Bath points: 7.2 ÷ 14.4 total acidity points
pH of the bath at 20 °C: 4.5 ÷ 5.5

PREPARATION OF SOLUTIONS
For every 1000 liters of solution, use from 10 to 20 kg of FIPROPHOS 540.
Fill the tank with water and bring it to the operating temperature; then, add the pre-set quantity of FIPROPHOS 540 with the pumps running and circulate the solution for at least 10 minutes before introducing the first material to be treated.

Bath control
Take 20 ml of sample, add 4-5 drops of phenolphthalein indicator and titrate with a 0.1 N sodium hydroxide solution until a persistent pink color is obtained.
The number of ml of 0.1 N sodium hydroxide used represents the bath points which, for a preparation at 10 g/l, must be approximately 7.2.
Power supply
For each point consumed, add 1.4 kg of FIPROPHOS 540 per 1000 l of bath.
Storage
Store the product in its original packaging, in a cool and dry place, protect from frost.
Warnings
All parts in contact with FIPROPHOS 540 can be constructed with AISI 316 L steel, avoid yellow alloys in pumps and valves.
