Technical specifications
FIPROPHOS 546 is a liquid alkaline phosphate formulation used to degrease and simultaneously phosphatise iron and steel surfaces before painting them. The coating obtained consists of iron oxides and phosphates and its weight is generally between 0.2 and 0.4 g/m².
FIPROPHOS 546 can also be used to degrease aluminium, zinc and their alloys.
Usage and Applications
FIPROPHOS 546 is to be used in aqueous solution, by spraying, with the following operating parameters:
Treatment time: 1 ÷ 3 minutes
Temperature of use: 40 ÷ 60°C
Concentration: 10 ÷40 g/l
Bath score: 7.2 ÷ 28.8 total acidity points (at make-up without pH adjustment)
pH of the bath at 20 °C: 4,5 ÷ 5,3

PREPARATION OF SOLUTIONS
For every 1000 litres of solution use 10 to 40 kg of FIPROPHOS 546.
Fill the tank with water and bring it up to working temperature; then add the predetermined quantity of FIPROPHOS 546 with the pumps running and circulate the solution for at least 10 minutes before the first material to be treated enters.
The Fiprokim Technical Service will provide the optimal conditions of use during the plant start-up phase.

Bathroom control
Take 20 ml of sample, add 4-5 drops of phenolphthalein indicator and titrate with a 0.1 N sodium hydrate solution until constant pink colour.
The number of ml of 0.1 N sodium hydrate employed represents the bath score, which, for a 10 g/l preparation, should be about 7.2.
Power supply
For each point consumed add 1.4 kg of FIPROPHOS 546 per 1000 l of bath.
Warnings
All parts in contact with FIPROPHOS 546 can be made of AISI 316 L steel, avoid yellow alloys in pumps and valves.
Storage in original packaging, in a cool, dry place, protect from frost.
