Technical specifications
FIPRO AK 973 is a liquid product, a synergetic mixture of film-forming amines, neutralising amines, polymers and corrosion inhibitors for copper.
Usage and Applications
FIPRO AK 973 is an organic product that prevents fouling and corrosion through its ability to form a protective film in hot water circuits, closed cooling circuits and chiller circuits.
The film-forming amine contained in FIPRO AK 973 creates a protective film on the metal surface. This film in turn acts as a barrier, separating dissolved oxygen from the metal surface; this helps prevent corrosion.
FIPRO AK 973 helps maintain the pH of closed circuits in a range between 9.0 and 9.5. At these pH values, the corrosive processes of copper and steel are minimal due to their passivated state.
The film-forming amine contained in FIPRO AK 973 modifies the crystalline structure of calcium carbonate, making it amorphous. The resulting precipitate is poorly adherent and can be easily removed. The antiscale properties of the product are further enhanced by the presence of polymers with high dispersing capacities.
Filmic amine technology is based on the formation of a monomolecular film that is adsorbed onto the metal surface. This film provides a separation barrier between water and the surface; the diffusion capacity of oxygen through this film is reduced by 90%, which helps reduce corrosion.
The protection of copper is enhanced by the presence of a specific corrosion inhibitor.
The combination of film-forming amines with neutralising amines makes the product even more complete.
Neutralising amines react with free carbon dioxide and help the pH reach the desired values.
It has also been observed that film-forming amines modify the crystalline structure of calcium carbonate, which makes the precipitate amorphous, poorly adhering, and able to be removed very easily.
The polymers contained in FIPRO AK 973 fortify the antiscaling action of the product thanks to their strong dispersing effect.

Bathroom control
Because of the dispersing effect, old deposits in the system will be removed.
In order to avoid recirculation of these materials throughout the system, we recommend the following procedures:
Preferably install a filter on the recirculation, which works by separating suspended materials and also operates in a timed manner
. Flush and refill the system alternately at least once before starting up the system
.
The filming amine residue can be determined using appropriate methods by Fiprokim Technical Service.

Power supply
The dosage of FIPRO AK 973 is specific to each circuit and should preferably be defined with the help of a Fiprokim technician.
In general, however, the dosage can vary from 250 to 2000 ppm in relation to the volume of the whole system.
The optimum value is then reached when the residual amine film (CFA) can be determined in the range of 0.5 and 2.0 g/m3.
The effective dosage of FIPRO AK 973 can be further verified by monitoring the pH, which must be between 9.0 and 10.0.
FIPRO AK 973 should be dosed in concentrated form if possible; dilution is not recommended.
FIPRO AK 973 can also be dosed with an automatic device, which doses in proportion to the system replenishment.
All dosing system components that come into contact with the product must be made of alkaline-resistant material (e.g. PVC, PE). Viton should be avoided.
Storage
All parts in contact with FIPRO SG 596 can be made of chrome nickel steel, AISI 321 or chrome nickel molybdenum, AISI 316Ti. For transport, storage, handling and discharge of wastewater, follow the instructions and laws in force. For further information on the product please refer to the Safety Data Sheet. Store the product in its original, sealed packaging, in a cool place and protected from frost and direct sunlight.
