FIPROCOAT 9080 is a chromium-free pre-painting treatment product used to produce a conversion on iron, aluminium and galvanised surfaces that has excellent paint anchoring properties and provides valuable protection against corrosion.
Usage and Applications
FIPROCOAT 9080 can be applied either by spraying or dipping, in an aqueous solution, according to these parameters:
Concentration of use 10 - 40 g/l
Contact time spray 60" - 180"
Submerge contact time 120" - 300"
Operating temperature 20 - 40 °C
The operating conditions may vary depending on the result and the pre-treatment plant.
The Fiprokim technical service will provide the optimal operating parameters on a case by case basis.
We recommend a rinse in demineralised water prior to treatment with FIPROCOAT 9080.
We also recommend keeping the conductivity of such a rinse below 60 µS/cm.

OPERATIONAL PROCEDURE
Before carrying out the conversion, it is necessary to remove any pollutants from the surface of the parts to be treated, using degreasing alkaline baths, followed by several thorough rinses.
.Prepare the bath using demineralised water and add 10 to 40 kg of FIPROCOAT 9080 per 1000 litres of bath. Bring to working temperature and homogenise at least 15 minutes before treating workpieces.
Then add ALCAFIP 1051 until the pH of the working bath is stabilised for values between 4.3 and 4.8.
After treatment with FIPROCOAT 9080, the parts must be rinsed with clean water preferably demineralised water (overflow welcome) and final pass with deionised or demineralised water.
The product can work in combination with FIPROPLUS 915 which can alternatively also be used as a subsequent rinse to optimise paint adhesion.
Following drying at temperatures between 50 and 90°C.

Bathroom control
Please proceed as follows:

Take 100 ml of bath and transfer to an Erlenmeyer flask
. Add 6 ÷ 7 drops of phenolphthalein indicator
Titrate with sodium hydrate (NaOH) 0.1N, the millilitres of NaOH 0.1 N consumed indicate the concentration of the working bath.
A bath prepared with 30 g/l FIPROCOAT 9080 has a score, without pH adjustment, of 33 ml.
Adjusting the pH with ALCAFIP 1051 to a value of 4.65 gives a score of 21.5 ml.
For greater bath management accuracy we also recommend periodic zirconium point determination by complexometric titration of the solution under test.
Power supply
The correct feeding of the bath will be determined by the Fiprokim technical service depending also on the amount of overflow set. In any case it is recommended to introduce 6 kg of FIPROCOAT 9080 for each missing zirconium point per 1000 litres of bath.
In any case it is recommended to feed continuously, using overflow to reduce pollutants and to feed according to the set pH.
Plant Provisions & Storage
All parts in contact with FIPROCOAT 9080 must be made of fluoride and acid-resistant material.
