FIPRO SG 596 is a highly efficient caustic alkaline degreaser for pretreatment cycles on ferrous materials.
It can be used by immersion or spray on steel and stainless steel. Do not use on galvanized steel, aluminum and its alloys.
Due to its special formulation, it is suitable for removing calcium stearate and can be used as a dephosphating agent.
Use and Applications
FIPRO SG 596 is used in aqueous solution, by spray or immersion.
Operating conditions vary depending on the method of use, as described below.

Bath control
Take 10 ml of the bath, pour into a flask, add approximately 50 ml of demineralized water and 3 ÷ 5 drops of phenolphthalein indicator, titrate with 0.1 N sulfuric acid until the color changes from pink to colorless. The ml of acid consumed for the color change represent the degreaser points, which for a bath prepared at 20 g/l is equal to 11.4 points. For a bath prepared at 80 g/l, the points value is equal to 45.6 points.

Power supply
The bath must be maintained at the points value set at the time of plant start-up by adding FIPRO SG 596 in at a rate of 1.75 kg for each missing point and for each 1000 l of solution. Upon start-up, the Fiprokim Technical Service will recommend the best additive to use depending on the type of material to be treated, the methods of use, and the type of plant.
Storage
All parts in contact with FIPRO SG 596 can be constructed of chrome-nickel steel, AISI 321 or chrome-nickel-molybdenum steel, AISI 316Ti. For transport, storage, handling, and discharge of wastewater, follow current guidelines and regulations. For further information on the product, consult the Safety Data Sheet. Store the product in its original, sealed packaging in a cool place, protected from frost and direct sunlight.
